St Ninian’s is a family church of all ages; a friendly, social and welcoming community which attempts to combine the best of traditional prayer and liturgy with contemporary approaches. We enjoy an open and questioning theology, and are a community united by the desire to express the beauty, joy and challenge of faith in the 21st Century.

At the heart of St Ninian’s mission and ministry lies a deep commitment to serving not only the congregation but also the broader community which surrounds us. With this ethos in mind, St Ninian’s endeavours to establish itself as a thriving community hub, offering support and benefits to all who call our neighbourhood home. Our church premises encompass more than just a building; they represent a space for connection and service. From the sanctuary to the church hall and extending into the church garden, St Ninian’s aims to create a welcoming environment where individuals from all walks of life can find solace, support, and a sense of belonging.

We value greatly the contribution that children, young people and their families make to the life of our community. At the Eucharist on a Sunday we have crèche provision for children under 3. Parents and carers are welcome to keep young children in the church with them and should feel free to move around with small children during the service.

We are part of the Scottish Episcopal Church, an independent member of the world-wide Anglican Communion. We are Scottish because we trace our history back to Celtic Saints like Ninian and Columba, and the earliest known Christian communities in Scotland. We are Episcopal because we maintain a form of church order that includes bishops, priests and deacons. St Ninian’s belongs to the Diocese of Edinburgh, one of seven dioceses covering the whole of Scotland and bearing witness to our faith today.
